19/12/14 Progress Update

I'll be working on laying down some foundation CG plans this weekend, once I'm burnt out on finishing up Christmas art gifts for friends and such. Most of these plans will be centered around the bosses as opposed to the common enemies ingame. Though I've already got all losing CGs sketched out for the first three common enemies that appear in the very first dungeon.

CG making is likely to take a lot of work and consideration, as I technically have to remake each CG 6 times over to feature each heroine, and make adjustments according to body size. I also have to take into consideration certain acts, such as paizuri, and adjust accordingly -- a Madeleine paizuri is much different from a Toma paizuri. Some of these CG sets I might get away with only doing a couple -- some dungeons could be barriers to another country, so it's expected that you take in only what's given to you.

As well, I'm omitting sex CGs from the six Heroic Spirits from which you get your legendary weapons. At least, for now. They're ghostly things, anyway, and I'm not entirely sure how ghost sex will roll over, considering I've got several ghostly enemy types and bosses in game. That's going to take some creativity on my part.

Below are some (extremely -- and I mean EXTREMELY) rough sketches of these CGs. Always a work in the process, things are subject to change.

Mamagicka -- Ambitious Goals for the Future

I've been doing some planning out of the actual combat and dungeons and whatnot recently for Mamagicka. The totals so far that I have, which, mind you, are still subject to change, are as follows:

  • 32 dungeons, each uniquely different with different ways to approach them
  • 6 'Heroic Spirits' hidden in each continent -- defeat them to gain their legendary weapons
  • About 96 + unique enemy types, most with their own CGs for losing against them
  • 26 + unique bosses, not including midbosses or pre-bosses, also with their own unique loss CGs
  • Tons of different environments; from the burning top of Mount Callista to the ever-changing Passage of Shifting Sands, and to the west into the Forests of Woe, each continent has various locations with a certain theme to them.
  • Red-light districts, whorehouses for both males and females, purchase sex toys to use at brothels and purchase slaves to use at night.
  • Plenty of encounters and fetishes fufilled -- lesbian action, orc rape, /ss/, waterboarding, tender vanilla loving. Something for everyone, and nothing is mandatory.
  • Implementation of a system for lust, a status effect that makes your attacks miss up to 75% of the time depending on how high your lust actually is. Get rid of these through concoctions, store-bought remedies, or just satisfying your sexual urges.
  • Also, implementation of the pregnancy system -- monsters can impregnate you. Pregnant is a status effect that causes ones speed to drop and their defense and attack power to lower. Pregnancies last a few days in-game before the monster baby is birthed. Human impregnations last all-game, or until you get your character an abortion in a clinic in one of the many cities scattered across Fortitude.
  • Possible implementation: a crafting system for potions. One of your party members, Madeleine, is an expert potion brewer, so she may open up the ability for you to craft potent potions and concoctions to help (or impede) with battle.
  • At least two endings for each character, depending on what quests you take up during the game. These mostly just depend on the main quests for each heroine, which lead to character development and backstory as well as the option for sexual interaction.
  • You will be able to go through the entire game mostly 'virgin' -- some characters, ie Toma, are still a virgin, whereas characters like Madeleine are not. You still get a virgin end regardless so long as you do not participate in any sexual activity during the game.

I'd like to hope that I can make Mamagicka interesting and fun to play, and not just another cheap HRPG with a few CGs. I want an immersive world, and plenty of options. It's ambitious, but I'll get there.

Mamagicka -- Mechanic Notes

I've been trying to think of a good battle system for MaMagicka for a while now. Since you have a party of six, doing the common thing in most hentai RPGS (where you get a rape scene between the monster and the heroine when you lose) won't work very well, as there is no one target for said rape.

I could go the complicated route here and just have every "game over" rape scene be a full on orgy, but that wouldn't work right later on in the game, as some areas you can visit with just one or two people at the beginning of the game; a six-woman rape wouldn't work there if you happened to lose with those two starter characters.

So that brings the other ideas into flow. Plan A (and the most straightforward one, I think) would be to have a system in place so that the last character who gets knocked out gets the rape scene. Say you're in a dungeon with a party of Toma, Eliza and Fritz, and you encounter a skeleton. The skeleton wipes out Eliza first, and then knocks out Fritz. Finally, it takes out Toma. The ensuing scene would be skele-rape with Toma. Likewise, if the skeleton takes out Eliza and Toma first and Fritz last, the scene would be with Fritz instead. I'll have to research into triggering those sorts of flags, it might take a bit of a system going. All the CGs would probably be the same pose, just with the different characters in them. Extra work in the art department, but it's unavoidable.

The other system I could possibly think of would be to ditch the RPG mechanics and instead work on a game system where your attacks have a chance of hitting or missing in varying degrees. Missing an attack leaves you vulnerable to a hit from the monster, and once a heroine has racked up enough hits, she's "taken" by the enemy and you get a CG of the rape. After the rape, the heroine is out for the battle. Rinse and repeat. This method would require more scripting and an overhaul, though. It's much more work for me, and takes pretty much the same effort in the art area as plan A does.

The other things I'll have to consider for the game mechanics thus far includes the inclusion of lust and pregnancy. I believe I want lust to be a status effect of sorts, due to the fact that I want Eliza to naturally build it up due to her race. Lust would probably be something you could only get rid of in certain ways, the easiest being sex. For purity's sake, however, there would likely be another option, such as meditation or another alternative. This relief would come at some sort of a cost, however, to keep things challenging for  those who want a virginity run. Perhaps it would relieve far less lust than sex would, or if the solution were in a potion, the price would be steep.

Pregnancy would be another status effect, I think. As it stands, I have plans to implement it, as some of the heroine's side quests involve getting pregnant as well. I plan for pregnancy out in the wild to be something exotic -- when you get pregnant, you get a huge debuff on your stats until the child is born. Because these are monsters, the pregnancy time isn't all that long. You won't be able to get impregnated with a human child out in the wild because it's hard to wave away a nine-month incubation period just like that. But also, because of that nine-month period, getting pregnant at the end of side quests will act like a permanent immunity to monster impregnation. You might not see a large stomach on the heroine, but she will be pregnant; the child won't be born during the events of the game, and you will never get pregnant again. This is planned for quite a few heroines so far; whether it will be existent for all six is debatable.

Prostitution is planned. You can give your body to whorehouses located in every country for cash; some places give you more money for certain services, some give bonuses for having the right heroine go in with the right items (ie. a Gaehedan woman with a whip). Sex shops are available for these requested items; the items themselves are not necessary to take the job, but will give you extra money for bringing them with you. On the other side of the spectrum, in certain places you can find prostitution houses to buy from. They sell mostly male prostitutes, but some of them have specialty services, such as beastiality and futa. Likewise, sex shop items can be brought with you into an appointment with a prostitute, which will spur unique dialogue and maybe even a unique CG. Sex shop items serve no other purpose other than to be used in the whorehouses, at this time.

Finally, I plan to take a concept from a Star Ocean game I played a while ago. Since the party is quite large, and some events in towns and cities are dependant on individual interaction, the character in the first slot of your party will be the character you control in the towns. All other characters will disperse in the town when you enter and leave your party for the time being; the only character left will be that one character in the top slot. I'll attempt to make this changeable in the Formations tab, or at least see how that will work. I'll probably need a script or two. By default, this top character will be Toma. You can travel through the town and see the sprites of your other characters in the town itself. You can also talk to them. Whether you will get special events or not is to be implemented.

MaMagicka -- The Three Magic Heroines

It's been a while actually drawing the sprites, but here we are -- the final three heroines of MaMagicka, the magic classes.

MaMagicka -- The Three Combat Heroines

Today I'll be introducing the three combat heroines of MaMagicka. Also known as the three with the smallest chests. Below the cut:

MaMagicka -- The Races

Since we got the countries down in the last entry, I figure this time we might want to go over the races in particular. They're all quite different and you can clearly see where some of them interconnect/branch off from each other. Just remember that if it's got a good bust, it's a magic class, and if it doesn't, it's a combat class.

MaMagicka -- The Seven Lands of Fortitude

Today I want to introduce a bit of the setting for 'MaMagicka'. The world of Fortitude is quite extensive, and I plan for it to be fun to explore, as MaMagicka is meant to be a break away from the regular hentai RPG game in a number of ways.

The driving plot behind the game is that there are seven countries/lands in the world of Fortitude. They live relatively peacefully, until one of the countries revolts and causes a sort of world war. With this comes the task of securing the ancient artifacts of Fortitude; gifts bestowed on each land by the goddess that, when together, bring about the power needed to save a world or destroy it. A cliche and boring plot, but that sort of plot isn't too important in a porn game, anyway.

As mentioned, there are seven lands across Fortitude, arranged in a similar fashion to our own, each unique and with it's own history.

Floating Head Syndrome Gannako Stuff

I work on and off on Gannako, mostly on the art end due to the need for a completely fresh tileset that's minimal with a certain color tone to it.

Here's a set of portraits of some of the characters.

Left to right: Gannako (the protag), BoatGuy (the guy who took you to Pear Island), Mr. Wa (a helpful but bitter guy who lives near Lake Lake), Cornelia (some whackjob who likes to mess with you) and a mock-up of the Dream Rabbit, who grants wishes.

Frontal walking sprite for Gannako.

Some tile edits I did on the fly.

04/11/14 -- Character Sprites for MaMagicka

I was thinking, perhaps bust portraits are best.

So far, Toma (the swordsman) and Eliza (the archer) have portraits, as well as Toma's close friends, Gawain and Alexander.

They're mostly placeholders for now until I rig up something more luxurious looking. The males will definitely need to be redone, though.

04/11/14 - A New Day Dawns

So rises the flag of the Viperidae blog.
I've always had Viperidae Studios as my main group/associated name for game development, I just never thought to actually create a dev blog for it.

To be short, Viperidae Studios is my main gig/group. This is the umbrella company right here. There's a subdivision of Viperidae, which is LADYproject; that subdivision focuses on visual novels, though, which, arguably, may or may not be games, depending on which side of the internet you come from.

Viperidae is meant as a spot to progress my actual video game work (which means everything that ISN'T a visual novel). I've got a few projects that I work on in my spare time right now, and I'm currently learning bit-by-bit on how to code shit. For now, I've only got a few terrible RPGMaker projects to show for.

That being said, I'll make progress posts on here in addition to on LADYproject, when I have something to show.

This is my current "in progress" list. Mind you, these projects have maybe like the first level done, and I don't constantly work on them, either -- they're very long-term and I mostly use them as a stress reliever. There's a very good chance they'll never come out.

Guide: (! = RPGMaker Game, ! = Most Likely Dropped, ! = Working Title, ! = R18)
  • Menda City /// ! /// Hey, lucky!! Escape from the super-advanced-techno-fied medical research facility! Don't mind consequences, because results are what we aim for, lucky! Meant to be a horror game (somehow), but as of now it's just a really weird escape demo. That's right. Demo.
  • YANO: You Are Not One /// ! /// Russian themed horror RPG. No actual fightan. You play as a bunch of masked folks in a snowy Russian village. One day, you and your comrades go to investigate an abandoned military building a bit south of your village. And everything comes tumbling down.
  • Butterflies /// ! ! /// A girl wakes up in a hotel. She doesn't remember much. But she knows that she must go to Montgomery Hill, the village in the west. Cue a horrific adventure through a tiny old village to piece together her past and clarify who she is and what happened.
  • LIKENESS ///! ! /// Lucille wakes up in a dark, dark room in a big, big mansion. This mansion is ruled by Marie, the Queen of Dolls, and all who live inside are dolls themselves. Though that sounds harmless, these dolls aren't exactly mentally stable. Prepare for hyperviolence and lolicide.
  • Endless /// ! /// A fog-covered city. No way to escape. Monsters at every turn. And only a handful of survivors, all with trust issues. You have to escape the nightmare.
  • Incubii /// ! ! /// Kaori was once a beggar who devoted herself to the church despite not being eligible to be a nun. One evening, she's mugged by a group of bandits who break into the church and attempt to rape her, and is stabbed in the process. When she wakes from what seems like death, she finds herself in Hell, but instead of a lifetime of suffering, she's sentenced to lead a group of demons and incubi to victory against the gods, providing "nourishment" for them as they fight. NSFW, somewhat otome-ish, harem end, etc. Fetishes, ho!
  • MaMagicka /// ! ! ! /// In a world known as Fortitude, seven kingdoms live in relative peace. Until the smallest of all six countries known as Demoraoh rises and wages war on the other six, sending hordes of horrible monsters to each land in the hopes of gaining all of the Artifacts of Power, gifts bestowed on each of the countries by the Goddess. You play as the six heroines of Fortitude in an RPG adventurer. Monster rape, pregnancy, debauchery, and even quests for each independent heroine that can lead to great riches or even romance. The main gimmick here is, boobs = magic, so any character with large breasts is skilled with magic, while a flatchested woman is more likely to be a combat class. Needless to say, VERY NSFW.
  • Die Furcht /// ! ! /// Quite German-themed. Play as three different characters in a strange and grim little town where mysterious deaths are cropping up. Something about a mysterious ghost nun. To be honest, I lost most of my documentation on this idea.
  • Divine Heart X /// ! ! ! /// My very very very first RPGmaker game, which actually had a demo released. You've got some deity bullshit in your bloodstreams, some asshole wants to murder the shit out of you, find dem five crystals orbs with your buddies and triumph! Unfortunately, back then I was new to mapping and formatting and all that cool stuff, so it looks like shit, but it's kinda fun and charming, in it's own way. Uses a lot of music from various vidya. Yuck.
  • Floating Head Syndrome Gannako /// ! /// Gannako is losing her head. She keeps it tied to a string so that it won't fly away. Gannako travels to Pear Island to search for the Dream Rabbit, in hopes that it can reattach her head. Very surrealist and 2deep, but pretty nonsensical and cheery, too.
  • Foxville /// ! ! /// A news reporter travels with her crew to Foxville, a ghost town where drug dealers and murderers are said to hide things. Her van breaks down before they reach the town, however, and while fixing it, they're met with a young woman, scared and delirious, who runs out of the woods, screaming for help. The van fixed, two of the crew take the girl out to safety and to get help, while the reporter and her camera man stay behind. The camera man goes missing into the woods, however, and the reporter follows, only to be met with the entrance to an old, abandoned asylum, from which the girl from before escaped.
  • Hatescape /// ! /// In a crimson room, a young girl sits with a crow. There's a big double door beside her, but she cannot open it. She must search for a key by jumping from reality to reality, making many mistakes along the way.
  • Lonely Witch /// ! ! ! /// A girl in a mansion. There's two doors. Two paths. Two ways this can end, before you see the truth. My jumpscary horror game. Boo.
  • Maylene /// A game I tinkered around with in Game Maker Studios a bit before giving up due to constantly running into bugs and errors. A side-scrolling platformer with surreal story. Lots of red. You play as a dude who needs to gather flowers to Maylene, his beloved. Was supposed to be short but kinda nightmare inducing.
  • Push /// A game I once  started creating 3D models for.  I wanted it to be a 3rd person horror adventure game, that played off of one's usual expectations of horror games and twisted those expectations to screw them over. For example, you might find a shotgun with a few bullets. The normal person would fire them off instantly, and expect to find more bullets, but there isn't any in the level. You would need those bullets to shoot the boss to make the fight easier, but without them, the fight is quite a bit tougher. You would play as a girl named Marisol who only wants to get home, but has to go through quite a bit of spooky bullshit to actually get back.
  • Bewitchery /// ! ! /// You're Ritz, a witch-in-training. Your mom was a pure-bred sorceress, but she married a normal guy, which pissed off her pureblood family and caused her to disappear after a while. Once your dad (who you lived with ever since) kicks the bucket, your uncle, Maximillian, comes back and forces you to work for the family. This involves keeping five male sacrifices in your house and evading the castle guard. One day Ritz gets fed up with her uncle's shit and decides to deck him one, and goes on the run with those five males in tow. Along the way she picks up a powerup in hopes to get stronger, but it's actually a book of lust power. The young witch gets super powerful magic, but only if she feeds off of sexual energy. How you get it is up to you, but fucking wild monsters isn't really becoming of you. NSFW, sort of otome-like, with harem end if you do your shit right.
  • Sprezzatura /// ! /// An old game I planned, that was supposed to play like an old-school point and click adventure, a la The Cat Lady. There were three worlds, the bland real world, the vibrant and surreal dream world and the red and horrifying nightmare world. The main idea of the game was to take either the side of the dream world or the nightmare world. One of the two offered reality. The other was escapism.
  • Tenebres /// ! ! /// A game I was working on in a deadline experiment last year. I wanted to get a short game out by Halloween, but that fell through and I never touched it again. Three teenagers bust into an old mansion, get trapped, some hellish woman from hell wants to chow their nubblies, etc. Gore filled, think Corpse-Party gore.
  • Trashbaby /// ! /// A stylish RPG game with quirkiness up the ying-yang. You play as a common thug from the mafia who was buried alive in a graveyard after you fucked up on a job. You wake up to find yourself in a ghostly version of the graveyard, a dimension that you cannot nor the ghosts of the dead and forgotten can leave.
  • Yami Nikki /// ! /// An old Yume Nikki fangame. It's centered in a hospital as a main hub. In your dreamworld, the hospital is the Nexus, the rooms the doors to alternate worlds.
  • The Caring Woman /// ! ! ! /// In a monochrome world, a little girl is sent to an orphanage after the death of her grandmother, her only caretaker. While the girl adjusts to her new life, something sinister lurks in an alternate world, searching for the daughter it's lost.
  • Unnamed Project A /// ! ! ! /// You play primarily as a high-school girl named Annie, who really adores her older brother, Richard. Richard happens to be moving out soon, but wants to take Annie on a trip to the city one last time. On the way there, the bus breaks down on road through a forest area, and the driver (and the few other passengers) go missing. Annie and Richard go out to explore and find them, but discover a house owned by a woman named Gretel, and ask for her help. Horror and stuff happens.
  • Unnamed Project B /// ! ! ! /// You're Anna, a young woman with a fiance and an amnesiac mind. After a recent car accident, you start seeing figures of little girls out of the corner of your eye. They seem oddly familiar, too. You go out and search for answers as to who these girls are, and why they keep appearing.
  • Unnamed Project C /// ! ! ! /// A game where you play as a suicidal magical girl. It was supposed to be Madoka-esque, but with a tweeest.
  • Unnamed Project D /// ! ! ! /// A body has been discovered under a cliff. The body is identified as Rosaline Walker's son. Though the police chalk the death up to an accident, the distraught mother is determined to prove otherwise. Using clues left behind by her deceased son, she discovered the truth behind what happened.
  • Unnamed Project E /// ! ! ! /// An extremely shoddy hentai RPGmaker game, similar to Violated Heroine or Vitamin Quest, where you play as Zinc, a busty wisecracking thief who was kicked out her her gang for unknown reasons. Your main objective is to go fight the demon-possessed priest who kidnapped nuns and ran off to an abandoned mine, but the mine happens to be the property of the gang you were kicked out of. In order to access it, you need to find the three missing members of the gang's Inner Circle, as well as pay the gang boss 50 000 G. Prepare for maximum lewd.
